Effective Demand and Prices of Production: A Critique of Say’s Law Marxism

The workshop “Value, production and structural change” in memory of Luigi Pasinetti was held at Goldsmiths College, University of London on March 3rd 2023. Ivano Cardinale and Ariel Wirkierman organized the event and invited me to deliver a presentation on how my research relates to the work of Pasinetti. In the workshop I delivered a presentation titled “Effective Demand and Prices of Production: A Critique of Say’s Law Marxism”, in which I explained the arguments of my 2021 paper published in Structural Change and Economic Dynamics (SCED). In the links below you can find the slides and the video recording of my presentation:

The slides of my presentation are available here.

The video recording of my presentation is available on YouTube here.

Pasinetti was an admirer of Classical Political Economy, Marx, and Keynes. For this reason I dedicated my presentation to him and to his efforts of integrating the classical and Keynesian traditions. The objective of my paper is to further this research agenda and improve the classical tradition by incorporating key aspects of Keynes and Kalecki into the Marxist framework.

Let me know what you think if you happen to read the paper or watch the recording on YouTube.
